Queen of the May

I love this month best of all, the hawthorn in blossom, pink campion, birds building nests and everywhere green, green upon green, fresh and unspoilt. It is also a month when I think of my sister; today would have been her birthday. When she was little she was crowned Queen of the May, I wonder if anyone does that anymore?

  2. Thanks for your comments.I love your textile creations especially the ones that use Japanese Kimonos.I know a lovely website that sells Japanese vintage fabrics, it is called Clothaholics.

  3. I love the month of May it is so fresh and new and full of promise. I love the hawthorn hedges, the horse chestnut trees and the cow parsley in the fields & hedgerows. It is a bitter-sweet month for me too, I lost my mother in May 9 years ago.
Have a good Bank Holiday weekend:)

  5. Thanks for visiting my blog. I've just been looking at yours--lovely artwork!

When I was a child, we used to make paper baskets at school on May Day, and fill them with daffodils. Then we'd take our baskets home, put them in front of the door, knock and run away, so our mothers would get a lovely surprise when they opened their doors.
